Today

There are few days when my boss is almost giddy with some news regarding one of the animals, most of it involving something horrifyingly disgusting that I have to clean up.

Valentino is the largest snake they have. He is normally fed live rabbits, but yesterday he ate a rotisserie chicken, hopefully for the last time ever. Chicken grease EVERWHERE, and everything REEKED of rancid chicken. Valentino was somehow coated in it, which made restraining him all that much more difficult. At least he's really tame, so really I was only suppressing his reflex so he didn't get himself poked in the eye or something. But I got the malodorous grease all over my arms and shirt holding him for my boss, then again when I put him back in his finally clean cage. Then I had to clean the tub he was placed in during the mean time. (I love bleach.) Then I had to clean the trash can because it stank too, until only Valentino himself was the source of the smell (and luckily he was going to get bathed anyway since he's going to a carnival tomorrow). I ended up working late to get everything done.
